This Is Our FOURTH Walk For A Cure...

This will be our family's FOURTH Walk To Cure Diabetes. I walk in spirit as I can not attend the "real" walk in Tempe, AZ. Although, even from a distance, I walk hard! Sometimes I think it is more difficult to walk in spirit. Does my Adalyne really know that I am walking with her even though I am 2,500 miles away?

In this day of Health Care Reform, I keep my fingers crossed that this important bill will pass. It is hard for me to accept that if Jason's (Addy's Daddy) job is lost, so will Addy's health insurance. If her parents would try to buy a private health insurance policy, Addy would be excluded. She has two pre-existing conditions. These pre existing conditions are Type One Diabetes and Celiac Disease. According to Health and Human Services the cost for her parents to keep Addy alive would be over $13,000.00 a year for just Type One Diabetes excluding Celiac Disease. Providing for Addy's medical needs for Type One Diabetes and Celiac Disease without health insurance would be an impossible journey for our family to travel.

WE NEED A CURE FOR TYPE ONE DIABETES. Adalyne needs it now. Everyday which goes by without a cure, there is a greater chance that Adalyne's small body will suffer permanent damage from this debilitating disease. As a Grandmother, this is incomprehensible.

Please consider donating to Adalyne's Heal-A-Walkers JDRF Walk To Cure Diabetes to be held in Temp, AZ October 31, 2009. No amount is too small. As a family, we can not accomplish the goal of finding a cure for Type One Diabetes. We need the entire village to help Adalyne.

Type One Diabetes is deadly. It can kill quickly if not cared for properly. I want Addy to live a long and happy life. I want a cure for Adalyne in MY LIFE TIME. Insulin is not a cure. Insulin is a treatment. Without insulin, Adalyne Erin Rose would die. This is a harsh fact that we awake to every day.

But, with your help, we are one day closer to a cure and Adalyne Erin is one day closer to a normal life. With a cure for Type One Diabetes, Addy can be expected to live a normal life span. I want the precious gift of a long and healthy life for my granddaughter. Addy needs YOUR help.
