'Tis True

Adalyne Erin Rose has Celiac Disease. The biopsy of December 15, 2008 confirmed the diagnosis. This has hit me hard. Although, I know in my heart that Jesus gives mercy to all who are suffering. Right now, I am suffering. I am heartsick for my little five-year-old granddaughter. Not fair comes to mind, why Addy, another thought, and why us? Not one of those questions will be answered, at least not today.

I will focus on the beautiful little girl who is alive, smiling, and full of hope. The little girl who taught her three-year-old sister, Kaelyn how to blow out candles on her birthday cake. I will focus on the sweet little girl who learned to ride her two-wheeler the day before her biopsy. I will focus on the little girl who is active, alert, and brave. I will focus on my beautiful Adalyne Erin Rose.

Where do we go from here? With the power of our awesome and holy God, we will trudge another new path. We will hold our heads up and march forward into the world of Celiac Disease. Just like, we marched into the world of Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Von Willibrands Disease.

I will pray for Adalyne who was a beautiful Christmas tree on Friday, December 19, 2008. I will pray for Adalyne whose smile is so powerful. Moreover, I will pray that Jesus will lead us as we start the very long journey into the world of Celiac Disease combined with Type 1 Diabetes. Yes, I will pray with faith for strength.

"Do Not Fear"

I am in the Holiday Inn in Greenbelt, MD. I have 15 mins. on this computer. But, I have to take the time to say how grateful I am to Jesus. Addy had her endoscopy yesterday morning. I received a call from Wendy shortly after she spoke with the Dr. We will not know the results of the biopsy for another week. But, there is good in all of this. The Dr. said that there was nothing outstanding about her esophagus, or her stomach. No erosions. No ulcers. Nothing that stood out screaming "Hey, I am celiac" When the Dr. got to the small intestine, the only thing viewed was "Subtle Scalloping." This is a potential sign of celiac, but could also be the result of a GI viral illnesss. All of this is good. My hope is that Addy will be declared free of celiac disease....at least for a while. Every year Adalyne Erin Rose must go through celiac testing. I just pray that this year she has escaped it.

I must admit that I have been very fearful that the test wold be blatenly positive. Although on Monday, I was calm while I waited for Wendy's call. I kept repeating the words of Jesus, "Do not fear, I am here." No matter what the outcome of the biopsy, I will not fear, for I know that my Lord in near. I love you Addy. Happy Birthday Kaelyn, Kisses Maya, Heartfelt love, Wendy and Jason.
